Italian Dressing Mix

Do you ever wonder what are really in those handy mixes at the grocery store?  You would have to have a chemistry degree to know all the real ingredients!  Why not make your own mixes.  I make my own taco seasoning mix and this mix as well.  It tastes great and you know what is in there!!  Be sure to store in an air tight container.  I also cut out the recipe and tape to a ziplock bag and store the jar inside so I don't have to look up the directions to mix the dressing!

Italian Dressing Mix:

  • 1 ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (dried)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme

  1. Mix all ingredients together and store in air-tight container.
For Italian Salad Dressing:

  1. Mix 2 tablespoons of this mix with 1/4 cup vinegar, 2 tablespoons of water and 1/2 cup of olive oil.
  2. Whisk to blend.

Great idea Mary. So long to the 10 pack I've been buying all these years.
